Lagophthalmos is the incomplete closure of the eyes. A common type is nocturnal lagophthalmos, the incomplete closure of the eyes while sleeping. Nocturnal lagophthalmos is common in children, and is usually caused by anatomical abnormalities which they tend to outgrow with age.
